Our Lady Of Sion

Sixth Form

Sixth Form

Sion School is proud of its Sixth Form which is known as VISion. VISion allows students to develop to adulthood within the security of a familiar community. We offer a supportive environment that helps students realise their potential and achieve their aspirations. The aim is to prepare our young people to meet the challenges of the wider world with the necessary skills, confidence and resilience.

VISion Students students will have the opportunity to thrive academically and be well prepared for the next stage of life. They are also invited to take on responsibilities within the school community, including leadership roles and organising and managing events.

University Lifestyle

VISion, our Sixth Form, is a place for students to thrive academically while preparing them for the next stage of life. Students will experience ‘guided independence’ and leave Sion with the confidence, maturity and skills to take them further.

A Day In The Life…

For Sixth Form students, the day is from 8.40am until 3.40pm. They are expected to be on the school premises throughout the day, attending timetabled lessons and activities, and join in assemblies. However, a greater sense of freedom is gained upon joining Year 12. Students may leave the school premises for short periods and during lunch break, and those students in Year 13 who do not have lessons starting first thing, have the flexibility to come in a little later.

Apart from timetabled sessions, students should expect to spend time on their set work, reading and background studies.

Students are welcome to make use of all the facilities in the VISion Centre, which include:

  • Table Football
  • Kitchenette
  • Tea & Coffee Making Facilities
  • ‘Downtime’ Areas with soft chairs & beanbags
  • Study Room with IT equipment

The volunteering  programme has become an increasingly important part of the Sixth Form curriculum. Students are involved in a number of activities, including working in the local hospital, our Junior School, in charity shops and with children with disabilities and the elderly.

Students in our Sixth Form often participate in musical events at the School including the senior choir and instrumental works. They are also active participants in school drama productions and help with a variety of tasks such as stage management.

External Students

We warmly welcome applications from students from other schools who are seeking to complete their studies in the supportive environment of Our Lady of Sion. Apart from satisfying the above entry requirements, the offer of a place depends on a confidential reference from their senior school Headteacher, recent school reports and performance at interview with the Headteacher and Sixth Form Leader.

A co-educational, independent school with a strong ethos, successfully providing education to children and young people from ages 3 – 18
