Who is this course suitable for?
The Edexcel Further Mathematics A-Level is designed for students who are:
Course structure, content and assessment
The specification requires students to sit two Pure Mathematics papers, each of 1.5 hours in length (75 each), plus two ‘option’ papers (1.5 hours, also 75 marks each), all taken at the end of Year 13.
Core Pure Mathematics:
Students must study Core Pure Mathematics 1 and 2. This covers topics such as Complex Numbers, Series, Matrices, whilst extending further the topics studied in A Level Maths such as Calculus, Proof and Vectors.
Options:
Students can choose from a range of optional topics in the second year, which may include:
Advanced techniques in areas like matrices, differential equations, and further calculus.
More advanced topics in mechanics, including motion, forces, and energy.
Further exploration of statistical methods, probability theory, and distributions.
Focus on mathematical modelling, optimization problems, and algorithms
